A robber entered the Bee Ridge Pharmacy in Sarasota County, Fla., approached the counter, drew a gun (which was later discovered to be an air pistol) and demanded oxycodone from the clerk. The pharmacist and owner of the shop, Frederick "Jerry" Pireaux, noticed the robber, retrieved his gun and fired at the criminal, striking him in the shoulder and causing him to flee. Police captured the robber a short time later as he sought medical attention at a local hospital. This is not the first time Pireaux has had to defend his store from criminals. In 2008 Pireaux used a gun to fend off three armed robbers.
