Today, Tuesday, April 13, the House Finance, Ways, and Means Committee rolled House Bill 3125. This legislation will now be heard on Tuesday, April 20.
HB3125 would enable a person who has a valid Right-to-Carry permit to carry a firearm for self-defense in restaurants where alcohol may be served, as long as the permit holder is not consuming alcohol or is not otherwise prohibited by posting provisions. Sponsored by State Representative Curry Todd (R-95), HB3125 was filed in response to a court ruling last November. The law was held to be unconstitutionally vague because of a perceived ambiguity over the state’s definition of restaurants. This bill, with the NRA-backed amendment, will fix any ambiguity.
Please contact members of the House Finance, Ways, and Means Committee and urge them to stop playing politics and support HB3125 without any additional amendments. Contact information for the committee can be found here.
