A 62-year-old homeowner in Toledo, Wash. awoke to the noise of a burglar breaking in. The homeowner retrieved a gun and confronted the intruder. The homeowner ordered the intruder to “freeze” but the criminal still came towards him. The homeowner once again gave the criminal the order to “freeze” and when it was not obeyed he fired, striking and killing the intruder. After a preliminary investigation, the Lewis County Sherriff’s office noted that the deceased had a lengthy criminal record and that the homeowner acted in self-defense.
