A group of ten college students were gathered in an apartment in College Park, Ga. to celebrate a friends’ birthday, when two armed men burst through the door. The armed men demanded the students’ wallets and cell phones and began separating the men from the women. Showing their violent intent, one of the criminals asked the other how many bullets he had brought, and the other criminal replied “Enough.” After hearing the conversation between the criminals, one of the male students drew a handgun from his backpack and shot at the intruder who was holding the men captive, causing him to flee. The student then went to the room where the women were being held. As the armed student entered the room, the criminal was about to sexually assault one of the women. The student told the women to get down and fired at the criminal, who fled out a window. When police arrived, one of the criminals was found dead outside a nearby apartment building. The police said that they are close to capturing the second suspect. One of the other students in the apartment praised the actions of the armed student noting, “I think all of us are really cognizant of the fact that we could have all been killed.”
