Around 5:15 p.m. a criminal armed with a handgun entered JR Pharmacy in Orlando, Fla. The criminal confronted a store employee and demanded pills. The employee drew his firearm and fired at the criminal, striking and killing him. The armed employee does not face any charges. Jim Solomons of the Orange County Sheriff’s Office noted, “The shooter in the case, the business proprietor or clerk or owner in this case, felt that his life was in danger and he made the decision to meet deadly force with deadly force… And in this case, the good guy won.” Sheriff’s Cmdr. Paul “Spike” Hopkins added, "The Legislature has empowered people to protect themselves… People are tired of being victims."
