On Wednesday, August 15, the City of Hazelwood City Council deferred on taking any action on proposed changes to the city's firearms discharge and hunting ordinance. By postponing the consideration of the ordinance, the city leaders have clearly signaled that they are interested in addressing the concerns of law-abiding gun owners, hunters, and sport shooters.
City officials are currently working on a crafting a new proposal and plan on taking action during a recently announced "special meeting" on Tuesday, August 21 at 7:30 p.m. In order to accommodate what is expected to be an overflow crowd, next Tuesday's meeting will be held at the Hazelwood East Civic Center at 8969 Dunn Road.
While we hope to have addressed all the concerns with the original proposal, we are still encouraging all gun owners, sport shooters and hunters to attend the August 21 meeting.
