NRA-ILA Opposes Justice Department Proposal

Friday, May 4, 2007

Last week, the U.S. Department of Justice sent a legislative proposal, along with a letter of support, to Congressional leaders.  The legislative proposal would allow this - or any future - Attorney General to deny a firearm purchase to individuals on terrorist "watch lists" without due process of law.  Anti-gun Senator Frank Lautenberg (D-NJ) has already introduced the legislation (S. 1237).

As you would expect, NRA was quick to respond to this assault on our Second Amendment freedom.

Below you will find a link to the letter from NRA-ILA Executive Director Chris W. Cox to Attorney General Alberto Gonzales expressing our strong opposition to this legislative proposal.  Please be sure to read the letter, and please be sure to contact your U.S. Senators and ask them to oppose S. 1237!  You can call your U.S. Senators at (202) 224-3121.
