This year, attacks on our Right to Keep and Bear Arms will reach levels not seen in Springfield in a long time.
Already, anti-gun extremists are aggressively promoting bans on certain semi-automatic firearms and .50 cal. rifles, gun rationing schemes, restrictions on the private transfer of firearms, expansion of mandatory storage laws, and a new state-based bureaucracy for regulating firearm dealers. Even more attacks can be anticipated, and it is critical that law-abiding gun owners show their collective opposition to these and any other, anti-freedom measures. Pro-gun margins are razor-thin in the Illinois State General Assembly, so NRA is encouraging all law-abiding gun owners to take part in IGOLD 2007 - the Illinois Gun Owners Lobby Day.
This rally, to be held on Wednesday, March 14, in Springfield, will be an opportunity for pro-gun/pro-freedom citizens to gather together to hear a briefing about upcoming legislative battles, learn what they can do to protect the Second Amendment, and then meet with their elected officials. This year, several pro-gun/pro-freedom organizations have partnered with the Illinois State Rifle Association (ISRA) to promote this annual event. If we are to succeed with defending our Right to Keep and Bear Arms in Illinois, we need to see you, your family, and your fellow pro-gun activists in Springfield on March 14!
