Virginia Senate Committee to Hear Pro-Second Amendment Measures!

Thursday, February 16, 2006

The Senate Courts of Justice Committee did not hear House Bill 162, as expected on Wednesday, February 15.  HB 162, sponsored by Delegate Scott Lingamfelter (R-31), allows law-abiding citizens to keep lawfully transported firearms locked in their personal vehicles while parked on company property.  However, we expect the committee will consider this important pro-gun measure on Monday, February 20.

Also, House Bill 1265 has been re-assigned to the Senate Courts of Justice Committee and will also likely be heard on Monday, February 20.   HB 1265, sponsored by Delegate Bill Janis (R-56), would prevent the Governor, or any government authority, from suspending or restricting the Right to Keep and Bear Arms during a declared state of emergency.

Please contact the Senate Courts of Justice Committee members below and strongly encourage them to support both HB 162 and HB 1265.
