On February 28, the Senate Judiciary & Rules Committee will hear Senate Bill 1136, a measure that would establish a uniform statewide policy to deal with the issue of firearms that are unclaimed, confiscated, abandoned, or taken into custody via the legal process. Specifically, SB 1136 would require that law enforcement agencies dispose of such firearms by selling them to licensed firearm dealers as a first option rather than allowing the destruction of the property. It is vital that NRA members contact their Senator and urge support for this important measure.
