Senate Bill 288, the Maryland Assault Weapons Ban, was defeated in the Senate Judicial Proceedings Committee on Friday by a vote of 6-5. This onerous bill would have banned many semi-automatic firearms commonly used for hunting and competitive shooting. Many thanks go out to NRA members in Maryland who made calls to their legislators and attended the Committee hearings on this bill. The defeat of this ban is because of your steadfast efforts!
