Duluth City Council Takes Aim at Right to Self-Defense

Monday, January 27, 2003

On January 27, 2003, the Duluth City Council introduced an ordinance that would ban handguns in city buildings, city vehicles and in parks -- even if a person has a concealed carry permit.

The Council is scheduled to hold a hearing and possible vote on the ordinance this Monday, February 10, 2003.

Please contact your City Councilors by clicking here and urge them to oppose this ordinance. Remind them that Minnesota has a law prohibiting local governments from enacting their own ordinances prohibiting firearms in any area. This is known as the Minnesota Firearms Preemption statute.

Look for future communications from your NRA-ILA in your mailbox on this issue and urge your fellow gun owners to call the Council members as well.
