Some 4,000 angry policemen marched through the streets of Paris, demanding urgent government action to stem a spate of attacks that has seen seven officers killed in the course of their duty so far this year. They are demanding a radical tightening of France`s gun laws, as well as bulletproof vests for all patrolmen, a major new recruitment drive and significantly more pay to take account of the increased danger of their job.
