Violent Crime Epidemic Rocks France

There is a sense in France that violent crime is out of control. "We are being picked off like rabbits," says a police spokesman. The issue is receiving daily prominence in conservative newspapers. Recently, they found new ammunition with the deliberate ambush of a police patrol in a Strasbourg suburb. Three officers were wounded when a gang of 40 youths stoned and tear-gassed a patrol, lured by a false emergency call.
