CLARIFICATION ON OREGONIAN ARTICLE FROM OCTOBER 5TH In an Oregonian article from October 5th, "McCain backs Oregon gun show checks", the following information appeared. "Oregon Gun Owners, with limited help from the National Rifle Association, is running an intensive, statewide radio ad campaign targeting conservative Democrats and independents concerned about privacy and government intrusion." This information is not accurate. In fact, the NRA has taken the lead role in financing the fight against Measure 5 and has committed significant financial resources to defeat it. OGO has worked with NRA on strategy and message development. OGO, the Oregon Sportsmen`s Political Victory Fund and NRA`s state affiliate, the Oregon State Shooting Association, have also dedicated money and grassroots support to the No on 5 campaign. We are proud to be working with the OSPVF, the NRA, and other local gun groups to band together against this assault. It is our belief that when we all work together, we can be successful in defending our rights.
