LEGAL & LEGISLATION   Third Time's the Charm: Federal Appeals Court Voids Provisions of D.C. Gun Control in Heller III

Dick Anthony Heller, the lead plaintiff in the historic 2008 Supreme Court case that invalidated D.C.’s handgun ban, has once again successfully challenged D.C.’s oppressive gun control regime. Today, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit issued a ruling in the NRA-supported case of Heller v. District of Columbia (Heller III), bringing further relief to the beleaguered law-abiding gun owners of the nation’s capital. While the court did not totally invalidate D.C.’s onerous registration regime, today’s ruling is an important step in bringing gun ownership within reach to more of D.C.’s upstanding residents.

LEGAL & LEGISLATION   Congressman Sam Johnson Introduces Bill to Protect Social Security Recipients From the Obama Administration’s Most Ambitious (and Outrageous) Gun Grab to Date

On Wednesday, Congressman Sam Johnson (R-Tex.) introduced H.R. 3516, the “Social Security Beneficiary 2nd Amendment Rights Protection Act.” The purpose of the bill is to protect recipients of Social Security from being forced to choose between benefits to which they are legally entitled and their Second Amendment rights.

NEWS   CNN Poll Offers Bad News for Gun Controllers, Anti-gun Candidates

Candidates for the Democratic presidential nomination – Hillary Clinton and Martin O’Malley – have spent significant effort in recent months trying to outdo one another on gun control by boasting about just how much they intend to trample upon our Second Amendment rights once in office. However, a new poll released this week from CNN and ORC International should give their campaign staffers pause, as it makes clear a majority of Americans staunchly support their Right to Keep and Bear Arms.

NEWS   Martin O'Malley: I'm More Anti-Gun Than Hillary!

Erstwhile presidential candidate, former Maryland Governor (and mayor of crime riddled Baltimore), Martin O’Malley has penned an op-ed for CNN.com with his comprehensive plan for new anti-gun laws, were he to win election. Clearly, he does not want the voters in the Democratic primaries to think he is any less anti-gun than Hillary Clinton. His proposal includes universal background checks, gun owner licensing, mandatory training, federal gun registration and mandatory storage of all firearms in the home. It’s a pretty typical litany of anti-gun wishes from a tried and true anti-gun radical.  It’s interesting that just as O’Malley enlists CNN to carry his anti-gun message, the news outlet has released a new poll showing that the American people are moving the other way regarding gun laws.
