Nevada: Legislature Adjourns with Anti-Gun Bills Heading to the Governor’s Desk

This morning at 12:35am, the Nevada Legislature adjourned sine die from their 2025 session. Unfortunately, several anti-gun bills passed the legislature in the final days and have been sent to Governor Lombardo for his signature. Please use the TAKE ACTION button below to contact the Governor and urge him to veto AB 105, AB 245 and SB 156.

Assembly Bill 105 bans the possession of firearms within 100 feet of polling places with limited exceptions. This sweeping restriction infringes on the rights of law-abiding citizens and fails to include reasonable exemptions for carry permit holders simply exercising their rights. Second Amendment freedoms don’t end at government-drawn lines. Nevadans should not be criminalized for being near a polling place while legally carrying a firearm.

Assembly Bill 245 discriminates against adults aged 18 to 20 by prohibiting them from possessing semi-automatic rifles and shotguns. It further imposes storage mandates, requiring owners to lock up such firearms to prevent access by anyone under 21—or face criminal penalties. This would even restrict youth under 18 from using firearms for lawful hunting or recreational shooting.

Senate Bill 156 would require the appointment of Special Counsel for the Prevention of Gun Violence within the Office of the Attorney General. While proponents claim the purpose is to “develop data”, this position will only serve to advocate for gun control policies using tax-payer dollars.

Additionally, NRA would like to thank Governor Lombardo for vetoing Senate Bill 89. SB 89 was passed by the legislature and would have expanded Nevada’s prohibited persons categories for certain misdemeanor crimes. SB 89 was promptly vetoed by the Governor.

Stay tuned to the NRA-ILA website for updates on these bills as they await the Governor’s decision.
