Kentucky: Important Training Bill to be Considered by Senate

As early as today, Senate Bill 231 could be considered by the full Senate. Sponsored by state Senators Ray S. Jones II (D-31) and C.B. Embry Jr. (R-6), SB 231 makes several positive changes and clarifies Kentucky’s laws in relation to firearm training and licensing, including:

Specifically recognizes the NRA classes as fulfilling the requirements of the Department of Criminal Justice Training firearms safety program
Specifically recognizes NRA training of trainer instructors and trainers as fulfilling the requirements of the Department of Criminal Justice Training firearms safety program
Prohibits administrative regulations which require concealed deadly weapon license applicants to clean guns in class and replaces with hands-on classroom gun cleaning requirements with instructor demonstrations

Please contact your state Senator and urge them to support SB 231 when it is brought up for consideration.
