Maine: “Constitutional Carry” Legislation at Risk in Committee

Your urgent action is needed!

As soon as tomorrow, “Constitutional/Permitless Carry” -  Legislative Document 652  - is at risk of being amended in the Criminal Justice and Public Safety Committee with anti-gun language.  Sponsored by Senator Eric Brakey (R-Androscoggin), LD 652, "An Act To Authorize the Carrying of Concealed Handguns without a Permit," would recognize the right of all residents of Maine who are not otherwise prohibited by law from possessing a firearm to carry concealed without obtaining a Concealed Handgun Permit (CHP).  LD 652 would also leave the current carry permitting system intact for those who wish to participate in reciprocal concealed carry permit agreements when traveling to other states.

The fight is heating up!  At this moment, anti-gun extremists such as former New York City Mayor and billionaire Michael Bloomberg are funneling tens of thousands of out-of-state dollars in an effort to defeat this measure.  The time for action is now!

LD 652 could be up for a vote as early as tomorrow.  Please use the information provided below to contact members of the Criminal Justice and Public Safety Committee TODAY and urge them to support LD 652 AS DRAFTED.
