Illinois: Proposed Firearms Registration Act Bill Being Closely Watched by NRA-ILA

Earlier this month, House Bill 4715 was introduced by anti-gun state Representative Kelly M. Cassidy (D-14) and seeks to create the Firearms Registration Act. HB 4715 would require all purchased firearms, including those already owned at the time of passage, to be registered and include a background check of the owner.  Those who choose not to comply with this proposed registration process would be subject to a Class 2 felony, leading to jail time as well as a lifetime prohibition on firearms ownership.  

Your NRA-ILA has zero tolerance for any sort of firearm registration legislation, and as history has taught us, registration invariably leads to confiscation.  The deadline to introduce new legislation in Springfield is at the end of this week, and when that date has passed, it will become more apparent what the overall legislative landscape will look like during this year's session in Illinois.  NRA-ILA is closely watching this bill and all other Second Amendment-related legislation in Springfield, and will continue to provide updates and information on how you can help in the fight for the Second Amendment in Illinois.
