West Virginia: Don’t Allow Your Rights to be Slowly Stolen Away

Monday, January 28, 2013

Although the 81st Legislature of West Virginia stands adjourned until February 13, the barrage of attacks being waged against your Second Amendment rights has continued with overwhelming intensity.

Anti-gun state legislators across the country are making a full-court press led by extremist organizations like New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s group "Mayors Against Illegal Guns" (MAIG). These radical destructionists of individual liberty have an end goal in sight that would repeal the Second Amendment freedoms that law-abiding citizens have enjoyed since its inception into our Constitution’s Bill of Rights.

The misinformation being perpetrated by Bloomberg’s well-funded and highly motivated anti-gun group continues to exploit the emotional angst being felt by many in the wake of a national tragedy. The so-called “common sense” measures being weighed by these groups include a ban on commonly owned semi-automatic rifles, arbitrary limitations on magazine capacities and the criminalization of law-abiding citizens through the prohibition of private firearms transfers.

As anti-gun legislators in Washington, D.C. look to stand with President Barack Obama on his view of the Second Amendment, we must look to our state leaders to stand up for us in this monumental fight for the preservation of freedom in West Virginia. Your state and local officials have shown over the years that they truly stand with the NRA in support of your Right to Keep and Bear Arms and hunting heritage.

This is why we are urging you to contact your state elected officials today to do two things. First, thank your elected officials for their support of the Second Amendment in the past. Secondly, respectfully urge them to vote NO on any legislation that would restrict or infringe upon your individual Second Amendment liberties.

Click here to find contact information for your state Delegate and state Senator. To contact Governor Earl Ray Tomblin, use the contact form online or call (304) 558-2000.

We cannot allow Michael Bloomberg and Barack Obama to impose their will on your gun rights and gain a foothold in West Virginia. Please stay tuned to www.nraila.org for further updates and information.
