NRA-PVF Endorses U.S. Rep. Bob Inglis for Re-election in South Carolina’s 4th Congressional District Republican Primary

Monday, April 26, 2010

Fairfax, Va. – Today the National Rifle Association Political Victory Fund (NRA-PVF) is announcing its endorsement of U.S. Rep. Bob Inglis (R-SC) for re-election in South Carolina’s Republican primary election on June 8th.

Chris W. Cox, chairman of NRA-PVF stated, “The National Rifle Association is proud to lend our support to Congressman Inglis because he is a staunch defender of the Second Amendment freedoms of law-abiding gun owners, hunters and sportsmen in South Carolina.”

During his time in Congress, Rep. Inglis has demonstrated a proven and consistent commitment to South Carolinians’ Second Amendment rights by voting for legislation enacted into law to curb bogus lawsuits against gun manufacturers and to prohibit gun confiscation during states of emergency. He has also helped to restore self-defense rights in our nation’s capital by cosponsoring and voting for the D.C. Personal Protection Act and the Second Amendment Enforcement Act, as well as signing the pro-gun congressional amicus brief to the Supreme Court supporting our individual right to keep and bear arms in the Heller case. Most recently, Rep. Inglis signed the pro-gun congressional amicus brief stating that the Second Amendment applies to state and local governments in the McDonald case, which is now before the Supreme Court. He also cosponsored legislation to force reform at the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and to allow reciprocity between states for concealed carry.

"I'm very grateful for the support and endorsement of the NRA," Rep. Inglis said. "I support the Second Amendment, and I value the NRA's commitment to constitutional freedom. The Constitution is the place where we protect liberty by law. The NRA is a guardian of that law-enshrined liberty."

Congressman Inglis has been one of the NRA’s closest allies and bravest pro-gun advocates during his combined six terms in the U.S. House of Representatives, ranging all the way back to 1993. Rep. Inglis’ support for the Second Amendment in the U.S. House has earned him an “A” rating and the endorsement from NRA-PVF.

“On June 8th, I urge all South Carolina NRA members and gun owners to re-elect Bob Inglis to South Carolina’s 4th Congressional District,” Cox concluded.

Chris W. Cox is NRA's chief lobbyist. He also serves as chairman of NRA-PVF. The National Rifle Association Political Victory Fund is responsible for political candidate rankings. These are based on candidate voting records, public statements and responses to NRA-PVF questionnaires.
