Supreme Court nominee Sonia Sotomayor told senators Tuesday the high court decided "a very narrow issue"' on gun rights last year and justices still must settle the issue of whether the Second Amendment applies to states. Answering questions from senators on the second day of her confirmation hearings, Sotomayor also said that, if confirmed to the Supreme Court, she might have to sit out a potential case dealing with the question of whether the individual right to own firearms is guaranteed in the states.
