Randy Willis, the owner of Willis Packaging in Catawba County, N.C., went to check on his store around 3:15 a.m., after the alarm had been tripped. When he arrived, Willis noticed a man carrying a shotgun out of his store. Willis confronted the man and a struggle ensued, resulting in Willis pulling out his handgun and firing at the burglar, killing him. After the shooting, a second burglar attacked Willis, who fired his handgun again, striking the burglar in the shoulder. The surviving burglar was taken to the hospital to recover, and has been charged with kidnapping, larceny, robbery, and breaking and entering.
