On Thursday, July 19, the California Assembly passed Assembly Bill 854. It is now en route to the desk of Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger (D) for his consideration.
Currently California law does not allow a firearm manufacturer or dealer to import into the state a handgun that is not listed on the California Department of Justice’s “not unsafe” roster list for the purpose of evaluation by a journalist. AB854 is intended to create a system that will allow a loan to take place through a dealer and to be returned to the manufacturer through a dealer for the sake of evaluation for publication.
Please contact Governor Schwarzenegger today and respectfully urge him to sign AB854. Governor Schwarzenegger can be reached by phone at 916-445-2841, fax at 916-445-4633, or visit http://gov.ca.gov/interact#email to send email.
