Congratulations Kansans! Thanks to your phone calls, emails, and letters, Governor Kathleen Sebelius signed SB 195 on Friday, April 15. This NRA supported legislation will eliminate the unfair patchwork of local firearm ordinances across the state of Kansas. When this law takes effect, any firearm which is "cased" and "unloaded" can be transported throughout the state without fear of violating city or county firearm laws.
Despite what some have reported, no municipality will have stricter gun laws as the result of this legislation. All local storage requirements, permits to purchase, and waiting periods will be eliminated. This law takes effect on July 1, 2005.
Thanks for your hard work in helping NRA-ILA make this legislation a reality!
