A new Wal-Mart store in New Haven, Conn., has bowed to a request of the community to not sell firearms. After the store applied for a license to sell guns, the mayor and the police chief wrote personal pleas to stop the plan and a community group threatened to boycott the store. Police Chief Francisco Ortiz said: "We`ve got to recognize that a great number of crimes in our communities come from firearms that were illegally purchased."
