An armed robber in Chicago, Ill., picked the wrong prey when
he pressed a gun against the back of an off-duty state trooper who
was returning from grocery shopping on the city's West Side. When
the ski-masked man announced the robbery, the trooper dropped his
groceries, turned and opened fire on the man, killing him.
Established in 1975, the Institute for Legislative Action (ILA) is the "lobbying" arm of the National Rifle Association of America.
