Twelve-year-old Danny Holmes was on a hunting trip with his father and two friends in the Rocky Mountains near Kimberley, Canada, when the party came upon a grizzly bear burying a kill. As the bear charged the foursome, Holmes, the only person carrying a rifle, fired from 15 yds. and turned the grizzly. The boy fired again and dropped the 500-lb. bruin, saving the group.
