Wrong Company, Wrong Country.
Apparently the radical Violence Policy Center is having a difficult time grasping the difference between Fabbrica d`Armi Pietro Beretta - a company primarily noted for its fine shotguns - and Beretta U.S.A. Corp. - which has manufactured the standard sidearm for the U.S. military since 1985.
The VPC’s July 25 press release is literally off the map. It’s time for VPC to meet the Berettas.
Fabbrica d`Armi Pietro Beretta has been located in Gardone Val Trompia, Italy since the 1500s. Beretta U.S.A. Corp. has been located in Accokeek, Maryland since the 1980s.
Geography lesson aside, Beretta U.S.A. Corp. takes the wave of lawsuits that attempt to hold firearms manufacturers liable for the acts of armed criminals very seriously. It recently commented on the case of D.C. v. Beretta U.S.A. et al, the District of Columbia’s attempt to hold the industry liable for the costs of criminal gun misuse in the District. The firm stated: “The decision of the D.C. Court of Appeals to uphold the D.C. strict liability statute has the likelihood of bankrupting, not only Beretta U.S.A., but every maker of semiautomatic pistols and rifles since 1991.”
Beretta U.S.A. employs hundreds of Americans who manufacture a vital product used to save the lives of our men and women in uniform. The VPC and other radical groups want to litigate this company into financial ruin with little regard for national security and the economic well-being of thousands of families. That is careless behavior and it must be stopped.
