Florida Gov. Rick Scott does not have the power to remove Palm Beach County commissioners from office for trying to preempt a state gun law that took effect in 2011, a Leon County circuit judge has ruled.
Circuit Judge John C. Cooper, in an order released Thursday, ruled that provisions in the law allowing the governor to remove county commissioners from office are “unconstitutional” and “a violation of the doctrine of separation of powers.’’
