NRA-PVF Achieves Historic Election Victories, While Anti-Gun Billionaire Michael Bloomberg is Proven to be a Political Liability

Friday, November 7, 2014

The NRA would like to congratulate pro-Second Amendment candidates across the country who won significant victories in their respective states and districts in Tuesday’s historic elections.  And the NRA would like to congratulate YOU--our members--for the role YOU played in achieving those victories!  Thanks to YOU, the NRA scored impressive wins in hotly contested races and played a pivotal role in increasing pro-gun majorities in both chambers of Congress.

As a result of YOUR help, NRA-PVF endorsed candidates won hard-fought victories in Arkansas, Colorado, Georgia, Kansas, Kentucky, Iowa, Montana, Nebraska, North Carolina, South Dakota and West Virginia.  And because of your support and activism, the NRA was pivotal in re-electing pro-gun governors in Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Kansas, Texas and Wisconsin, and in ousting a Bloomberg-backed anti-gun governor in Maryland. In addition, we had great success in races for the U.S. House.

The elections once again showed the engine that drives the NRA’s political success is our members.  And the results of your involvement speak for themselves.  In nearly every close race, and even in some races that weren’t predicted to be close, your leadership as an NRA member made all the difference. In fact, none of our successes would have been possible without your support and activism.

Thanks to you, we were able to expand our influence in this election fight by putting more resources into more races.  We were also able to put more volunteer boots on the ground, distribute more pro-gun campaign literature, make more phone calls, and do everything we had to do to win a pro-Second Amendment majority in Congress.

And thanks to you, Barack Obama and Michael Bloomberg are now surveying the political landscape with the full knowledge that their anti-gun policies and anti-gun money were a liability for candidates across the country.

Whether you made phone calls, knocked on doors, volunteered with pro-Second Amendment campaigns and/or NRA-ILA’s Campaign Field Representatives, or even if your main activist undertaking was voting on Election Day--you once again proved that, while we may not be able to match the millions spent by Billionaire Bloomberg and his elitist pals, they can’t match your passion and intensity in support of freedom!

Right now, we have a big reason to celebrate, and you should take great pride in knowing you played a pivotal role in achieving all the hard fought victories described above.  However, we also know you understand that our fight is FAR FROM OVER!  We must now look forward to 2016.  We must elect a pro-Second Amendment President.  We must keep our momentum going.  We must continue to fight for our rights, or we risk losing all we have worked for and achieved.  The specter of Supreme Court appointments, Executive Orders, and new legislation loom on the horizon, and the freedoms we have defended since the founding of our great nation hang in the balance.

Moving forward, all that we do must focus on winning in 2016.  Your continued support and activism will be imperative. We HAVE to win in 2016--we have no other choice.  Together, we will ensure that we take advantage of every opportunity to advance the cause of freedom, even as we resist imminent attempts by President Obama and his billionaire allies to undermine the Second Amendment.  If you're already a member, we thank you and ask you to consider renewing or upgrading your membership, and to sign-up a friend or family member.  If you're not a member, we ask you to join NOW.  We need every American who believes in the Constitution and supports the Second Amendment to join with us and take a stand for freedom.

On behalf of NRA staff and gun owners all across America, thank you again for your support, and especially for your activism.  On to 2016!
