Idaho: 2014 Legislative Session Adjourns Today

Friday, March 21, 2014

Today is the final day of the 2014 Idaho legislative session.  With its adjournment, the NRA thanks members of the state legislature for their support in passing the following two important pro-gun bills this year:

Senate Bill 1254, sponsored by state Senator Curt McKenzie (R-13), will permit qualified retired law enforcement officers and law-abiding adults who have obtained an Idaho “enhanced” concealed carry license to possess a firearm on public college or university campuses.  SB 1254 was signed into law by Governor Butch Otter (R) on March 12.

House Bill 399, will lower the minimum age to hunt big game from twelve years to ten years, while retaining the requirement that an individual younger than twelve must be accompanied in the field by an adult licensed to hunt in Idaho.  HB 399 was signed into law by Governor Otter on March 13.

Both of these new laws will take effect on July 1, 2014.  The NRA thanks Governor Otter for signing these bills into law, members of the state legislature for their hard work and NRA members across Idaho for their support and persistence.
