Connecticut: State Representative Rob Sampson Receives Award for His Commitment to Upholding the Second Amendment

Friday, October 3, 2014

State Representative Rob Sampson (R-80) was recently recognized by the National Rifle Association Institute for Legislative Action with its Defender of Freedom Award for his role as a legislative champion fighting against Senate Bill 1160, one of the most egregious anti-gun bills in U.S. history.  Representative Rob Sampson is rated an "A+" by the NRA Political Victory Fund and has shown an extraordinary commitment to defending the Second Amendment.

Representative Sampson was the true legislative leader in Connecticut as he led the charge against extreme anti-gun legislation introduced during a very challenging time in early 2013.  He passionately defended the Second Amendment to his colleagues, both on the floor and off, spoke at events statewide and defended your gun rights in committee, both during public hearings on bills before his committee and in his prepared testimony before others.

Representative Sampson introduced legislation that became law in 2011 making it easier to renew pistol permits.  He also introduced legislation to strengthen Connecticut’s Castle Doctrine and to allow hunting on Sundays.  Representative Sampson serves as the Ranking Member of the Insurance and Real Estate Committee and sits on the Appropriations and the Environment Committee.

There is no question that Representative Rob Sampson has shown unwavering support for your gun rights and hunting heritage in Connecticut.  Accordingly, he deserves your appreciation and praise.
