Massachusetts: Final Public Hearing on Gun Control Legislation this Friday on Beacon Hill

Tuesday, September 10, 2013

Please attend this important public hearing and speak in opposition to all anti-gun state legislation

This Friday, September 13, marks the last of a series of public hearings conducted by the Joint Committee on Public Safety and Homeland Security.  Over the course of several months, this legislative committee has received public comment on nearly 60 pieces of legislation that would impact your Second Amendment rights if passed and enacted into law.  This could be your last opportunity to make your voice heard to this committee.  Most of the legislation being considered by this committee ignores concrete solutions to improve public safety, and instead focuses on victimizing and hindering responsible gun owners and sportsmen.  We need you to attend and testify this Friday so your elected officials understand that restricting the rights of the lawful will have a negligible impact on the criminal misuse and access to firearms.

Details for this committee hearing:

Date:  Friday, September 13

Time:  10:00 a.m. — 5:00 p.m.

Location:  Gardner Auditorium in the State House -- click here for directions.

By attending this legislative hearing, either by speaking or simply being present, you will have an opportunity to stand up for freedom and express your opposition to these misguided anti-gun proposals.  Public comment received at this hearing will determine the direction the Massachusetts General Court takes on our Second Amendment rights during this legislative session.  Some of the most egregious proposals include:

  • Gun registration schemes
  • Mandatory liability insurance for firearm owners
  • Microstamping of ammunition
  • Gun rationing schemes
  • Further limits on magazine capacity
  • Further restrictions on the private transfer of a firearm

If you cannot attend this important public hearing, please contact your state legislators TODAY to express your opposition to any proposed legislation that would infringe upon your Right to Keep and Bear Arms.  For help identifying your elected state officials and their contact information, please click here.
