PART 1 -- What happened at the Pinellas County Gun Show this past weekend.
PART 2 -- Why counties are allowed to pass these "Gun Show" ordinances

PART 1 -- Read this article -- it tells the story of what happened to Sheriff Gualtieri's big enforcement operation.
No arrests were made, no citations issued, no issues, no big deal, just a normal gun show weekend.

PART 2 -- The Florida Constitution gives county governments the option to pass a gun show ordinance.  Article VIII, Section 5 (b) allows counties to require background checks for private gun sales on "property to which the public has the right of access." The language targets the large gun shows often held at fairgrounds and convention centers. Holders of concealed carry permits were exempted from the background checks.  Click Here:  Constitution of Florida
