New York: Gov. Cuomo and Anti-Gun Legislators Admit SAFE ACT Mistakes - But Continue Assault On Lawful Gun Owners
Posted on March 22, 2013
America’s Most-Anti-Gun Governor hails from the same state as the nation’s Most-Anti-Gun Mayor, New York City Michael Bloomberg. Exploiting tragedy, Governor Andrew Cuomo’s fiery State of the State speech today outlined a laundry list of recycled gun control proposals that have failed across the country -- and they have already failed in New York. Please contact your state Senator and Assemblyman TODAY and respectfully ask him or her to oppose legislation that does nothing more than target law-abiding gun owners. Your phone call or email will play an important role in halting these assaults on your Second Amendment rights.
Just before midnight and within minutes of the bill text becoming available to the public, the New York Senate passed radical anti-gun legislation late last night. Without any committee hearing or testimony, without public comment or even proper legislative procedure, anti-gun Governor Andrew Cuomo and legislative leaders, including Senate Republican Leader Dean Skelos and Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver have cut a deal and sacrificed your constitutional rights that they swore to protect. As a result, the state Senate passed S.2230 by a 43-18 vote and the Assembly will vote on it today.
Your Second Amendment rights are under attack in Albany, and your state Senator needs to hear from you TODAY. Exploiting tragedy, Cuomo has launched an assault on your constitutionally protected civil liberties and will stop at nothing to make sure your other elected officials join him in shredding the U.S. and New York Constitutions that they are sworn to uphold. Proving he has truly missed the mark when it comes to effective solutions to violent crime, Cuomo outlined yesterday a laundry list of recycled gun control proposals that only target and punish those who already obey the law! These measures have failed across the country -- and have already failed in New York. Anti-gun lawmakers are teaming with Cuomo to make sure you DON’T have a voice and that bills are quickly passed before the public has an opportunity to resist. Even though this legislative session has only just begun, these bills can be introduced and voted on as early as Monday. Stand up for your Second Amendment rights and make your voice heard now before it is too late. Please contact your state Senator TODAY, and respectfully ask him or her to oppose legislation that does nothing more than target law-abiding gun owners.
On Thursday, February 28, NRA-ILA, along with the New York State Rifle and Pistol Association, held a rally to protest New York's recent attack on the Second Amendment--the passage of the so-called S.A.F.E. Act.
