Montana: Pro-Gun Bills to be Heard as Early as Today in Helena

Tuesday, March 26, 2013

Please Call AND E-Mail Senate and House Committee Members NOW

Your immediate action is needed!  Very soon and perhaps today, House Bill 240 will be heard by the Senate Education and Cultural Resources Committee, and House Bill 468 will be heard by the House Taxation Committee.  Both are important pro-gun measures, so it is imperative that you contact committee members now and urge their support for these measures.  Contact information for the members of these committees is provided below.

House Bill 240, sponsored by state Representative Cary Smith (R-55) and known as the “Higher Education Rights Restoration Act,” limits the authority of the Board of Regents and University System to regulate firearms.  HB 240, that passed in the state House on February 23 by a 54 to 41 vote, will be heard by the Senate Education and Cultural Resources Committee, so contact Committee members TODAY and encourage their support.

House Bill 468, sponsored by state Representative Alan Doane (R-38), known as the "Montana Ammunition Availability Act," encourages the manufacture of smokeless propellant, small arms primers and cartridge cases within the borders of Montana to ensure availability of small arms ammunition for Montanans and to fully implement the right to bear arms that the people have reserved to themselves.  This bill has been held in committee since February 22, but could be heard by the House Taxation Committee soon so please contact Committee members immediately.

Please contact members of these committees and politely urge them to support either HB 240 or HB 468.
