Senate Bill 308, a critical self-defense reform that would remove the prohibition on a Concealed Weapon Permit (CWP) holder carrying a concealed firearm into a restaurant licensed to serve alcohol, has been placed on the state Senate Calendar and could be heard any day. Introduced by state Senator Sean Bennett (R-38), S. 308 would still prohibit a permit holder from consuming alcohol while in the restaurant if he or she is carrying a concealed firearm for personal protection. Please contact your state Senator and urge her or him to support S. 308, and to oppose any efforts to weaken this critical reform.
In addition, state Representative Wendell Gilliard (D-111) has introduced House Bill 3575, a bill that seeks to ban countless semi-automatic rifles and shotguns. This “assault weapons” ban has been referred to the House Judiciary Committee. While H. 3575 has yet to be scheduled for a hearing, it is important that you contact members of the House Judiciary Committee and urge them to oppose this attack on our Right to Keep and Bear Arms should it be brought up for consideration.
