Emergency: Last Chance to Demand Senate Judicial Proceedings Committee and Your Senator to Oppose All Aspects of SB 281

Today, the Maryland Senate leadership announced that the Senate Judicial Proceedings Committee will be voting on Senate Bill 281 as early as Tuesday, February 19.  It is likely that this sweeping anti-gun legislation will be reported by this committee and voted on by the entire Senate NEXT WEEK.  SB 281 has drawn much criticism and protest from Maryland citizens.  Evident from the huge turnout at the February 6th rally, with a showing of thousands of Second Amendment supporters in Annapolis, this legislation is strongly opposed by law-abiding Marylanders. The number of people who signed up to testify in opposition to SB 281 was so large that the Senate Judicial Proceedings Committee restricted the amount of testimony they would hear to eight hours.  Not all testimony from pro-gun advocates was heard -- and the committee struggled to find anyone in support of the legislation.

DO NOT let them ban your guns and make YOU a criminal.  Now is your LAST CHANCE to voice your opposition before the Senate voteand it is extremely important that you do so IMMEDIATELY.  Contact your state Senator and members of the Senate Judicial Proceedings Committee NOW.

It is EXTREMELY urgent that Marylanders express their opposition to Senate Bill 281 as well as contact Senate Judicial Proceedings Committee members and their own Senators. Strongly urge them to oppose Governor Martin O’Malley’s extremist gun control package in any formDo NOT let them take away your voice and your rights like Governor Cuomo did in New York.  You have a chance to stop this dangerous legislation, and the time is NOW.

More information on SB 281 can be found here.

Please also contact Governor O’Malley and tell him you oppose his attacks on your rights!  He can be emailed using the online form here and called at (410) 974 3901 and (800) 811 8336.

  • Maryland: Governor O'Malley's "Common Sense" Will Leave You Defenseless

Anti-gun Maryland Governor Martin O’Malley (D) released a statement yesterday that should alarm all law-abiding gun owners in the Old Line State.  O'Malley  announced that he will be pushing a broad gun control package through the Maryland General Assembly as soon as possible.  His proposal is packed with attacks on your Second Amendment rights and hunting heritage that O’Malley claims are “common sense.”  However, these anti-gun proposals have been tried in the past and have been resounding failures across the country.  According to the Brady Campaign's national ranking of state gun control laws, Maryland is the seventh "best" (most restrictive) in the nation BEFORE this legislation is considered.  O’Malley’s proposal ignores the fact that criminals simply do not obey gun bans, register their firearms or comply with any gun control schemes.   As a result, only law-abiding citizens will comply and be left defenseless.

Governor Martin O’Malley has made targeting the rights of law-abiding gun owners a legislative priority this session, and his proposals could soon be considered, pass and become law.  His anti-gun legislation has been introduced as Senate Bill 281, an attack on our Second Amendment rights and hunting heritage in Maryland. This bill has been referred to the Senate Judicial Proceedings Committee, but at this time has not been scheduled for a hearing.  Senate Bill 281 is expected to move very quickly through the legislative process, so it is imperative that you contact committee members and your own state Senator IMMEDIATELY and urge them to oppose this legislation!

At this time, there is no hearing date scheduled for HB 294, but it is expected to be heard soon. • Maryland Update: Governor Holds Press Conference Today, Releases Further Details of Anti-Second Amendment Agenda

Anti-gun Maryland Governor Martin O’Malley’s (D) statement outlining gun control proposals on January 14 was a cause of alarm to all law-abiding residents in the Old Line State, and his press conference today only confirms that he is more interested in politics that target the law abiding than responsible governing to limit crime.  O'Malley will be pushing a broad gun control package through the Maryland General Assembly soon, which will include attacks on your Second Amendment rights and hunting heritage that O’Malley claims are “common sense.”  However, these anti-gun proposals have been tried in the past as an easy “solution” - and have been proven resounding failures across the country. Despite this, O’Malley continues to loudly advocate for these same failed proposals and ignore simple reality.  Criminals simply do not obey gun bans, register their firearms or comply with any gun control schemes.   As a result, only law-abiding citizens will comply and be  left defenseless.  The following misguided policies can be found in O’Malley’s extremist gun control package:
