Washington: Jan Angel Wins State Senate Seat in Special Election

Friday, November 8, 2013

After a highly contested special election, state Representative Jan Angel came out victorious against appointed incumbent Senator Nathan Schlicher in the battle to claim the state Senate seat in Legislative District 26.  Jan Angel’s win marks a huge victory for Second Amendment supporters and sportsmen, as she was rated “A+” and endorsed by the NRA Political Victory Fund for her steadfast commitment to defending and protecting our Right to Keep and Bear Arms.  By contrast, her opponent was “D” rated for supporting and cosponsoring radical anti-gun legislation during his tenure in Olympia.

Thank you to all NRA members and Second Amendment supporters who made the difference by not only voting for Jan Angel in this race, but also by attending meetings, walking precincts, making phone calls, distributing flyers and talking to your fellow NRA members and Second Amendment supporters in the 26th District to make sure they voted for Jan.  Her win could not have been possible without your efforts.

However, we will be facing many political and legislative battles in 2014, and it is critical you remain engaged to ensure success.  In 2014, Jan Angel must go before the voters once again and she will likely face another tough election as anti-gun extremists will be certain to target her for defeat.

As the 2014 legislative session convenes in January, NRA fully anticipates the same misguided anti-gun bills will be introduced.  Some of the most egregious proposals that will undoubtedly be introduced include the criminalization of private firearm transfers, the ban of commonly owned semi-automatic rifles, and the ban of standard capacity magazines.

Please stay tuned to www.nraila.org for updates on this initiative and other legislative battles we will face come next year.
