South Dakota: Legislature Begins New Session with Pro-Gun Reforms

Thursday, January 24, 2013

The South Dakota Legislature convened its 2013 session by advocating for the rights of law-abiding gun owners. Senate Bill 166, introduced by Senator Larry Rhoden (R-29) and Representative Gary Cammack (R-29), would make improvements for South Dakota residents who carry a concealed firearm for self-defense. This bill would extend the validity of the state’s Permit to Carry a Concealed Pistol from four to five years. SB 166 has been referred to the Senate State Affairs Committee where it will receive further consideration.

Although a date has not been scheduled for a hearing, please begin to contact members of this committee and urge them to support this simple, but important, reform for law-abiding gun owners. Your NRA-ILA will continue to keep you updated as more details become available.
