Pennsylvania: The Borough of Swarthmore to Consider “Lost or Stolen” Ordinance!

Friday, February 19, 2010

Please Stand Up and Make Your Voice Heard!

Mayor Richard Lowe, a member of New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s anti-gun coalition, “Mayors Against Illegal Guns”, has introduced an ordinance that would require gun-owners to report lost or stolen firearms within 72-hours or face a fine up to $1,000 and/or up to 90 days in jail.

This proposal not only violates Pennsylvania’s state preemption laws, but also potentially turns law-abiding gun owners -- who have already been victimized by theft -- into criminals.

This proposed ordinance will be heard on Monday, March 1 at 7:30 p.m. at the Swarthmore Borough Hall.  A potential vote could take place on Monday, March 8.  Please make plans to attend this hearing and show your support for the Second Amendment.

Also, please contact the Mayor and the members of the Borough Council TODAY and respectfully voice your opposition to this unwarranted, unjust and illegal proposal.  Contact information can be found below.
