Alabama: House Passes “Workplace Protection” While Senate Comes Up Short

Thursday, June 11, 2009

Please Thank Those Representatives Who Supported This Legislation!

Now that the Alabama legislative session has come to an end, please take the time to thank your State Representative for their support on House Bill 362, Alabama’s “Workplace Protection” bill.  HB 362, sponsored by State Representative Craig Ford (D-28), would have protected your right to lawfully transport and store firearms in a privately-owned and locked motor vehicle while parked in publicly accessible parking lots controlled by your employer or a business you frequent.  While your contacts and phone calls to your Representatives helped ensure the bill’s passage in the House without the railroad exemption, the Senate failed to give its final approval.

We will continue to work with legislators next session in an effort to pass this necessary self-defense reform.  With your continued help, we will ensure that the Second Amendment rights of Alabama gun-owners are protected and that your ability to transport and store a firearm in your vehicle is not restricted.

Please thank the following Representatives:
