The Illinois House of Representatives could vote any day on two bills seeking to ban firearms. The first, HB 1098, introduced by Representative Elaine Nekritz (D-57), seeks to ban .50 caliber rifles. The second, HB 2414, introduced by Representative Edward Acevedo (D-2), seeks to ban certain semi-automatic rifles and shotguns, as well as .50 caliber rifles. These bills will do nothing to address the problem of violent crime, and would serve only as another attack on our Right to Keep and Bear Arms. Proponents of this legislation have even stooped to exploit our nation`s concerns over terrorism in order to advance their anti-gun agenda. Gun-ban extremists have been given several opportunities to bring these bills up for a vote, but each time support for them has diminished because of your phone calls.
Now is another opportunity for the pro-gun community to have its collective voice heard. Please call your State Representative immediately and urge him or her to oppose HB 1098 and HB 2414. Tell your legislator that attacking the Second Amendment will do nothing to stop violent criminals or the threat of terrorism.
