More private land in Washington will be open to the public for hunting this fall because of record spring drawing application sales for the slate of special hunt permits in 2010. About $400,000 in drawing fee proceeds has been dedicated for investment in access agreements between the state and private landowners for the coming hunting season, said Dave Ware, game program manager for the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife.
