Voter Registration and Eligibility
Must register to vote 15 days before the election.
Can select party affiliation at polls or change party affiliation 15 days before the election.

QUALIFICATIONS

To register to vote in Kansas, you must:

  • Be a United States citizen
  • Be a resident of the state of Kansas
  • Reached the age of 18 years before the next statewide general election
  • Have Received final discharge from imprisonment, parole, or conditional release if convicted of a felony
  • Have abandoned your former residence and/or name

OBTAINING A VOTER REGISTRATION FORM

Can register to vote in person or obtain a mail-in application from:

  • County Election Offices
  • Division of Motor Vehicles Offices
  • Most banks
  • Most libraries
  • Most schools
  • Most government offices
  • Agencies that provide services to people with disabilities

Obtain an voter registration application online.

After obtaining a form, the person needs to fill it out completely, sign it and mail or deliver it to the county election officer in the county where they live. Faxed or electronic copies are not acceptable.

KANSAS ADVANCE VOTING

Who Can Apply for Advance Voting in Kansas?

Any registered voter may opt to vote before Election Day.

How Can I Acquire an Advance Voting Ballot?

Those voters who are interested in voting before an election should contact their County Election Officer to request an application for an advance voting ballot or you may download the application for advance voting ballot.

You can have your ballot mailed to you starting 20 days before the election.

A voter may also apply for and vote an advance voting ballot in person in the county election office starting the Tuesday before election day, or up to 20 days before the election, depending on the county (voters should contact their County Election Office for more information).

The last day for voters to apply for an advance voting ballot to be mailed is Friday, October 31.

How do I Return the Advance Voting Ballot and What is the Deadline?

All ballots that have been sent through the mail must be returned to the County Election Office by the close of polls on Election Day in order to be counted. The ballot may be returned by mail or in person.
