Thanks to the activism of law-abiding gun owners and sportsmen, the South Kingstown Town Council defeated a proposal that would have amended the Zoning Ordinance.
These amendments would have placed limitations and extra burdens on firearm retailers by limiting the locations where the businesses could operate, as well as requiring a special permit process in order to have the establishment in certain areas. This proposal was defeated by a vote of 4 to 1.
