Manitou Springs Mayor Marcy Morrison phoned Thursday to say she thought a compromise was in the works on the matter of openly carrying firearms in city limits. Consensus seems to be building among city leaders that the prohibition against openly carrying firearms should be pared back to exclude many of the hiking trails and open spaces around town, while retaining the ban in a few public buildings and in-town parks. The ordinance could also be modified to allow the carrying of firearms in parades, pageants, plays, etc
