Missouri: Your Lawmakers Need to Hear From You on Pro-Gun Legislation

Senate Bill 656 has been placed on the House Calendar for third reading and could be considered at any time.  Having been amended to now include multiple pro-gun reforms, it is important that you contact your state Representative immediately and urge them to SUPPORT SB 656 when it comes up for a vote.

Sponsored by state Senator Brian Munzlinger (R-18), SB 656 would:

• Specify that except for credit card fees incurred, no additional fee beyond $100 may be charged to process concealed carry permits and allows military members extra time to renew their permits
• Implement 10, 20 and 50 year options for non-reciprocity issued permits
• Expand Castle Doctrine protections for anyone legally allowed into your home, vehicle, business and property
• Allow components of firearm training for RTC permits to be online
• Recognize Missourians right to Constitutional/ Permitless Carry where open carry is not prohibited
• Expand Missouri’s current Stand your Ground laws (Similar to SB 663)

Yesterday, the Missouri Senate approved an amended version of Senate Bill 663.  As previously reported, Missouri State Senator Kurt Schaefer (R-Columbia) amended Senate Bill 663 with critical self-defense language, known as Stand Your Ground.  Please take a moment to thank your state Senator for approving this critical self-defense language.

Tomorrow, May 4 at 8:15 a.m., the Senate Transportation and Public Safety Committee is scheduled to hear House Bill 1468 in SCR 1.  HB 1468, sponsored by state Representative Eric Burlison (R-133), would allow all law-abiding individuals to carry a concealed firearm anywhere that isn't expressly prohibited by law.  HB 1468 would also recognize your right to legally carry a concealed firearm without having to obtain a permit, allowing law-abiding gun owners the ability to better protect themselves and their families.
